Good Bye UET

So i started this Blog a year ago when i got admission in UET . Thought would blog regularly about my Life in UET. I posted a couple of posts , but then i guess i got busy with studies and the daily college life and did not blog much . Anyways , This will Most probably be my last Post on this blog. The thing is i am leaving UET Lahore . I got Admission in NUST and well me leaving UET for NUST . Don't hate on me there are number of reasons for this
1) I hated studying mechanical engineering. Software Engineering was always my dream and i couldn't get in last year so this year i got the opportunity and em grabbing it
2) I am From Rawalpindi and i love the bliss of my own bedroom :P
3) Being my parents only Son , My mom wants me back :D

So This is my last post and it will be a long read . I am going to Tell You about my stay in UET , what i liked about it , what i hated about it and what i will miss about it

So Lets start from the Beginning. I never wanted to join UET in the first place , just coz i would have to live in a hostel/dorm. since my merit in NUST was 3516 so i had no choice but to join UET
I Joined UET a week late and after staying for 5 days we got Eid Holidays so i went home . On my way home from Lahore i was sure i wouldn't go back coz my first week was pretty much awful . I hated the fact that i had to share a room , i hated not seeing and greeting my parents in the morning, I hated not having a computer or internet , i hated not having a TV . Over all i just didnt want to come back . But i talked to my dad and he told me to give it one more try
And em glad i Did . Coz my stay in UET was one of the best years of my Life . Yes i missed home , yes sharing room with people drove me crazy , Yes the food was not as good as i would get at home . But the time i spend with my friends , the time we hung out , the time we goofed around in class , the time we played cricket and football . It all made up for everything i disliked about hostel life

Now getting to the Actual University Life , The academic aspect of it . I personally was expecting more. I was expecting a more professional approach from the teachers , Not the same come to Class give a lecture from book and then gives simple questions in Exams . I was expecting a more practical Approach. But well i just studied the first 2 semester so we were just covering the basics hence i guess i didnt get what i wanted. Overall the Teaching staff was good , Except a couple of them , they all were dedicated and believed in imparting knowledge to the students and not just deliver lectures to get salary , The Workshops and Labs though not the prettiest did have a good amount of equipment. I loved the workshops , It was hard work but enjoyable , learned a lot about carving metal and wood.
Our schedule was kinda tough , we didnt have much free periods through out the week , The teachers were regular and punctual . So over all i was about 90% satisfied with my studies, Well except from Sir Kashif .. i might make a separate post about him.
Besides what i loved about UET was the extra curricular activities. From Football Tournaments to Techno Fest , Dramatic Exhibition to Debate competition , There was something happening almost through out the semester. In the 2 semester i stayed in UET i took part in 3 football tournaments and there were 2 others that i wasnt part of . So there is alot happening that you can indulge your self into
Plus there are Plenty of Societies you can join , Literary society , Dramatics Club , Debating Society , American Society of Mechanical Engineering to name a few.
So as i said , There is alot to do on Campus.
Now getting to the things i disliked about UET
The thing i disliked most about the university is its Unprofessional Approach . Its a Government university so well one can expect that
When i got my Admission i had to get a piece of paper signed by some official , It took me 2 days to get that done , They told me to come at 10 . at 10 they would say come at 1 at 1 they would say he has left
After we gave our First semester Examination , we were all waiting for our result , and we kept waiting , and waiting, AND WAITING . After the midterm of our second Semester my dad met with the Chairmen of the Department and inquired about the Result. Thats when the Chairman told the respective teachers to start checking the Papers. and it took them another 2 months to announce our First Semester Result.
Majority of the Grading done in Workshop was purely random. I for one em very strong in basic electrical studies , and i was giving below average marks in Electric workshop even though i did everything correct including the final viva. In other Labs and Workshop students who deserved good marks were given average while some were given more marks than they deserved

Then there were the last few days when i was trying to get my clearance. See this is the time of the year when the final year has completed its 4 years and is passing out . hence they need clearance so they can get their degree. So thats alot of Students looking for clearance so the University should make special arrangements in such days , But sadly they were least bothered. i Needed to get my Dues cleared , the Due section has three windows where students can come and get there dues cleared or any other work they have related to due section. But sadly only one of the windows had an official. The remaining 2 had empty seats in front of em. The Only Official Present also had a lil kid with him who was continuously bugging him slowing down the already slow processes . There was a line of students wanting clearance and this guy was taking 20 mins per student. Why weren't there officials on other window when the University knows the work load is immense in these days

Well Enough Ranting. I just wanted to give my honest Opinion About the University . UET is a great institute . I loved my stay at the same time i hated it, The tension at the end of semester with exam a stone through distance away was nerve wrecking . I hated being in a hostel room with 3 other guys , i am a person that prefers being alone.
I didn't get in NUST last year , and now em glad i didn't . If i had gotten in i wouldn't have spent 1 year in UET . There were times i just wanted to walk away but that's purely coz em a spoiled brat :P
In the end i would just Say UET is one of the finest Institute of Pakistan . With a little more professional Approach they can become even better
I had a great 1 year in UET . i made some really good friends that i will miss alot . The thing that made me think twice before quitting UET was my friends that i will leave behind . I have bunch of great memories from UET that i will cherish for the rest of my life

I hate having anything sticky and wet on me . Specially my Face . Here i have been covered in Foam spray , that is both wet and sticky and bubbly , some thing that gives me the creeps and annoys me to no limit . Yet em smiling and enjoying it

That Sums up my Stay in UET , Even though i hated staying in UET i loved it for the great institute it is.
I will Miss UET without a doubt . Even though em Leaving UET i will always be a proud UETIAN .

Well since some one was dumb enuf to follow this sorry excuse for a blog, it gave me a whole new boost of energy and passion to write more entries and torture the ppl who accidentally come across this page. I am not gonna reveal the name of the person who is following me coz well ppl might wanna kill him for encouraging me to continue with this shit. Any ways bro , Let them think what they want . I for one love u alot , u brought a big smile on the face of a geek sitting behind the screen of his laptop.When em gonna be the CEO of Porche ... i will gift u a Porce 911 . :D
And as far as vampie is concerned . I know my spelling sucks .. The English Marks on my 2nd year Mark Sheet are a prove of it. Some might blame their school some might blame there college .. I blame internet for compltly fucking up my english . Typing fast and in short form really messes u up . 6 years of chatting and now sumtime i find it hard to spell my own name .. But who cares ,, i got over 300 views on my blog. That makes me feel all important and loved and shit.
Anyways em gonna be thinking of more topics bout UET to post

Engineering Drawing

So well Our Teacher said himself
After these 3 hours of Engineering Drawing Class you wont ever wanna draw a single line in your life again .. I totally agree with him. it was painful . Drawing line after line after line . First line after every 10mm . Then line 2 mm above and below the 10 mm line . WTF ... so many lines ...... its torturous. And after bending for 3 hrz drawing line after line after line after line on the sheet that never seems to end my back was soar. It hurt . my knee were killing me . Some one might call me weak but the truth it its not my physical incapability .. its the fact that engineering drawing is a torture to young kids (okey we arent young kids anymore but still ....) all over the World. And the thing i dnt get is why The Ef do we need to draw em by hands . when we have tons of soft wares that can do it for us. Like seriously we will never draw em by hand in our professional life why the hell are we being made to draw em now . Instead of wasting 1 semester on this crap and then studying 1 semester on how to do it using computer software, why dnt they teach us computer software for 2 semester .. this will be much more beneficial for us and not to mention much less pain in the ass.
After just making one sheet i have realized em screwed as em not cut out for this shit .. Summer school here i come .........

Uet Dramatic Society Show of 2011

Well so UET Lahore has a well reputed dramatic society . so they organized a competition covering 2 days . The show included skits for the competition and sum featured presentation by the UET dramatic club them self. So lets start with day 1 .. we reached the auditorium by 4:15 and there was a huge line of students waiting to get it . luckily we had links in the dramatic society so we were able to get in easily .. The auditorium was booming with music . The sound system was amazing . Rock tunes were rocking our minds out . So the program finally started with a skit presented by the UET Dramatic Society themself . A very touching skit that was quite well written and the acting was great. the small fighting scene at the end was Awsm. This skit was followed by Shekho in UET which was a fun lil comedy skit. we had sum other skits and stuff that em not in the mood to go into detail of as its almost 4 am right now . Now that was the end of day 1
Day 2 started much more smoothly as there were no lines . We started off with another Skit presented By UET Dramatic society followed by 3 skits for the competition . We had another comic Skit by UET dramatic society that seemed fun only if we cud get what they were sayiing
Anyways what followed left us dumbstruck. It was the famous DEATH BEAT that we had herd so much bout from day 1 . The Famous Mime Skit UET Dramatic Society has been performing for the past 6 years . And believe me .. it was worth repeating for the next 100 years .. it was ....... i still cant think of words to describe how great it was, The effects used were amazing . the concept , the direction , the co-ordination was SPOT ON. Its to complicated to be to described in words so em gonna try and get sum vids if i can find em on youtube
But guys believe me .. IF u missed it .. You shud never forgive urself . and pray they perform it again next year

ANAXEE Cafe

Ok well if you have been to UET Lahore you wouldn't be surprised to read that my first post is about Anaxe Cafe (or how ever its spelled). Ever Since i joined UET i have been told about how awesome the Cold Coffee or Milk Shake of this cafe is. Friends who have been there or those who haven't but herd bout it from seniors all kept mentioning how awesome it was. Having drunk Cold Coffee from Rahat and other places i wasn't expecting much from. But believe me i was proven wrong. Their Cold Coffee is AWESOME ... i like went their daily for a week drinking Cold Coffee Feast or Cold Coffee Kulfa.. After a week i realized i was out of $$$ .. That’s when i had to control my addiction, It was hard .. and painful but thanks to the busy schedule of quizzes and Mid Term... i was able to get over it Now i would Like back up my argument about how awesome Anaxe is by giving sum very valid and logical Reasons 1) The Coffee is awesome period 3) It relaxes you. After Studying for a while just go with your friends .. sit down ., have a drink .. its quite refreshing 4) you get to see all kind of weird couples at the cafe. Guys trying to act all cool in front of their GF .. Gals trying talk in English trying to look all amazing. It’s really fun to just sit and observe the bunch of idiots around u. seriously stop acting so fake. I just walk out of my room in whatever I am wearing and go sit down and have a cold Coffee. While others around me all dressed, Gals with full make up on. And People talking in such an American Ascent that even an American went be able to understand wtf they are saying So head over to the Annaxe cafe if you haven’t so far Its located behind the work shop which is next to the new Auto Motive center which is next to the cricket Ground which is next to the SSC which is next to the .....................................................

Intro Bout UET

Well First of all i want to give u a lil info bout UET LAHORE
UET stands for University Of Engineering and Technology. It is the oldest and one of the most reputed Engineering University of Pakistan. In International Rankings it is the ranked as Pakistan's Second Best Engineering University.

"UET was established in 1921 as the Mughalpura Technical College. Its more familiar name of the pre-University era, the Maclagan Engineering College, was adopted in 1923 when Sir Edward Maclagan, the Governor of the Punjab, laid the foundation stone of the building, now called the Main Block.

In 1932 the institution became affiliated with the University of the Punjab for award of a bachelor's degree in Engineering. At the time of the partition of British India, in 1947, it had well-established Bachelor of Science courses in electrical, mechanical and civil engineering, and the quality of its scholastic standards had won it a place of prestige throughout British India."

Well now my views bout the university so far.
The first Impression wasent the best. But after staying for like almost 3 months i have started appreciating this place . The Campus is huge. it has great sport facilities with 2 cricket grounds and 3 football grounds along with 2 out door basketball courts (in functional condition .. the other two have grass on em)and a swimming pool . Not to forget a Gym and other sports facilities that em not aware of :D .
The buildings are kinda old and not well kept but then again seeing the huge (sarcastically) amount of funds they get...... it is justified.
Well that was a long booring post . Now i will paste sum pics to entertain yall :P ..... oooooo colorly !!!!

So guys some how you have landed on this blog. You might be thinking what is this place. Well let me tell u a lil bout myself . Em new here in UET, class of 2010 .. and em in Mechanical Department .. So i thought bout making an online diary bout my experience here in UET and sharing with yall.
I am not only gonna be sharing the news events and other boring stuff . But will also be speaking my mind out about the teachers and classes and every day college stuff (thats the reason i havent told u my name ... dnt wanna get expelled coz i called Dr Riaz Mirza and old dude who has no idea how to teach and is the worst teacher i have ever been taught by)
